The Philippines and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are exploring ways to strengthen their collaboration on transportation.

Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman and chief executive of UAE’s Emirates Airline and Group, in a social media post said he met with Secretary Jaime Bautista of the Department of Transportation on November 14 where they explored avenues to strengthen transport ties between the UAE and the Philippines.

Al Maktoum said talks focused on achieving tangible results that support “our communities and boost economic growth, with long-term benefits for both countries.”

“I am confident that our continued relationship will bring enduring benefits to both nations,” Al Maktoum said.

One of the largest airlines in the world, the Dubai-based Emirates last year expanded its interline agreement with flag carrier Philippines Airlines (PAL), enabling passengers of the former to access domestic points in P AL’s network via Cebu and Clark via Manila.

Passengers that fly on PAL’s flights via Dubai can connect seamlessly to Emirates’ network in Europe, Africa and other parts of the Middle East.

Emirates flies from Manila, Cebu and Clark.
