THE Philippines has pitched to US companies the country’s healthcare and information management services (HIMS) — one of the fastest growing sectors in the information-technology business process management IT-BPM) industry, the Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC) in New York said.

In an email interview on Sunday, Trade Commissioner Benedict Uy said the performance and magnitude of the HIMS industry validate the significance of this sector in the IT-BPM space.

Citing the targets set under a roadmap prepared by global research firm Everest Group for the IT-BPM industry, Uy said HIMS is projected to grow at a compounded annual growth rate of 9 percent from 2024 to 2028.

In a social media post, PITC New York said it led on May 13 a hybrid seminar on “Bridging Filipino-American Businesses and the Philippine Healthcare BPO,” attended by 45 participants, many of whom are Filipino-American owners and managers of home health agencies in the United States.

High-value outsourcing

The initiative aligns with the Center’s broader mandate to promote the Philippines as a competitive and reliable destination for high-value outsourcing, PITC said.

Uy in his speech at the seminar emphasized the value proposition of Philippine HIMS to US businesses looking to streamline operations, maintain compliance, and improve service delivery—all while benefiting from cost-effective outsourcing solutions.

He also cited the recent participation of the Philippines in the 2025 HIMSS Global Health Conference in Las Vegas, where exhibitors booked $79 million in deals.

PITC said John Duenas, former executive director of the Healthcare Information Management Association of the Philippines, in his presentation at the seminar highlighted the sector’s ability to resolve operational pain points in US healthcare businesses such as billing documentation, regulatory compliance, and cost efficiency.

The roadmap, on the other hand, said aside from traditional services such as claims management, care management billing and collections, Philippines’ HIMS is also witnessing growth in high-value services such as clinical research, analytics and life sciences.

5% growth in revenues

Citing Department of Trade and Industry figures, Uy said HIMS generated an estimated $4.2 billion in revenues in 2024 from $4 billion in 2023, up 5 percent. That represented 12 percent of the $38 billion revenues of the IT-BPM last year.

Uy added HIMS had 190,000 full-time employees at the end of 2024, or 11 percent of the 1.8 million IT-BPM workforce as of last  year.

The Healthcare Information Management Association of the Philippines has 63 members serving clients in the US, Canada, Australia and other countries.

Based on the roadmap’s aggressive targets, HIMS has the potential to reach $6.7 billion in revenues and a workforce size of 290,000 by 2028.
