President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. made a pitch to Switzerland to consider investments opportunities not just in the Philippines but in the entire Asia despite ongoing geopolitical disturbances in the region.
The President, in courtesy call and presentation of credentials of Swiss Ambassador Nicolas Brí¼hl on Tuesday, said it is wise for European countries to look to Southeast Asia and the whole of Asia for partnership, because of the opportunities and exciting developments in the region especially with the current post-coronavirus pandemic recovery.
Brí¼hl, acknowledging that the Asian economy is recovering well compared to other parts of the world, committed to help deepen bilateral relations between Switzerland and the Philippines, including maximizing the benefits of the Philippines-European Free Trade Association (EFTA) free trade agreement.
The Philippines and the EFTA states which include Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland signed an FTA in Bern, Switzerland on April 28, 2016, which covers trade in goods, trade in services, investment, competition, protection of intellectual property rights, government procurement, and trade and sustainable development.
