Secretary Alfredo Pascual of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) yesterday appointed DTI Undersecretary Rafaela Aldaba as supervising undersecretary of the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA).
PEZA is an attached agency of the DTI. The PEZA board is chaired by Pascual.
According to the DTI, as supervising undersecretary, Aldaba supports the secretary’s monitoring and supervision of PEZA.
In Department Order 22-116, Aldaba’s appointment takes effect immediately and will remain in full force and effect unless revoked or modified.
The PEZA Board will meet today to discuss further details of the appointment.
DO 22-16 replaces another DO issued earlier yesterday which designated Aldaba as officer-in-charge director general (OIC-DG) vice Tereso Panga. The DO was withdrawn but the DTI did not explain why.
It was not also clear if Tereso Panga would stay as OIC-DG of PEZA.
