PERC bags permits for 33.98MW  solar power project in Isabela

Local renewable energy developer Petro Energy Resources Corp. (PERC) said its affiliate firm got the nod from National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) for the transmission connection of its 33.831 megawatts (MW) solar project in Isabela.

This development will fast-track the second phase of BKS Green Energy Corp.’s (BKSGEC) Limbauan solar power project, PERC said in a statement Monday.

NGCP issued the approvals to project developer BKSGEC, a unit of Rizal Green Energy Corp., which is a joint venture between PetroGreen Energy Corp. (PGEC) and Japan’s Taisei Corp.

PGEC is the renewable energy holding unit of PERC, with Kyuden International Corp. as a significant minority investor.

PERC said the Limbauan solar power project has been certified by the Department of Energy (DOE) as an energy project of national significance on November 4, 2024, as its contribution is deemed crucial to the government’s energy and development goals.

NGCP’s approval also confirm the technical feasibility of connecting it to the Tuguegarao–Cabagan 69 kV transmission system, the company added.

The company did not disclose the amount involved in the development of the solar facility.

PERC said the Limbauan solar power project’s 5 MW first phase also had prior approval for its distribution impact study, distribution asset study and connection agreement with Isabela II Electric Cooperative (Iselco II).

A power supply agreement for the said facility to supply electricity to the electric cooperative is pending approval from the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC).
