The first five kilometers of the P23.3-billion North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) Connector Road project is set to be operational this quarter, according to NLEX Corp.
The project is 94 percent complete.
The road is expected to enhance the accessibility between airports and seaports as well as boost the supply chain and logistics sector as it traverses Circumferential Road 3 (C3), Blumentritt, Dimasalang, España and R. Magsaysay boulevards up to the vicinity of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines in Sta. Mesa, Manila.
J. Luigi Bautista, NLEX Corp. president and general manager, said in a statement the team is making sure construction activities are within the schedule so the road may be opened for public use.
The project is divided into two sections: España and Sta Mesa. The 5-km España section runs from Caloocan Interchange on C3 Road, España Blvd., while the 3-km second segment runs from España Blvd. to R. Magsaysay Blvd., all the way to Sta. Mesa.
Last December, the company said the second segment is 23 percent complete. The government has delivered 86 percent of the right-of-way requirement.
The company had said the substantial completion is expected by February 2023 and the entire project is targeted to be operational in the second quarter of the year. – Myla Iglesias
