D&L Industries Inc. said its Batangas facility will start operation in May next year after the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) extended the timetable to fully fit the facility.
The P8- billion facility was originally slated for commercial operations by October.
PEZA granted the SCO (start of commercial operation) extension to D&L’s unit D&L Premium Foods Corp. (DLPF) up until January 2023 in consideration of the challenges and delays encountered due to the pandemic as well as shipping delays for equipment and machineries for the plant.
The facility is set to be used by D&L’s units DLPF and Natura Aeropack Corp. (NAC).
“As such, NAC, which will manufacture coconut oleochemicals for various consumer care products, will now be the first plant to operate within D&L’s Batangas facility. It will start its commercial operations in May 2022 as originally planned,” D&L said.
The Batangas facility sits on a 26-hectare property in First Industrial Township – Special Economic Zone in Batangas.
The company has so far spent about P4.5 billion for the project.
