Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) is expanding its operation in Vietnam with the launch of a new route this July.
PAL will introduce nonstop flights between Manila and Da Nang beginning July 1, serving as the gateway to the heritage wonders of Central Vietnam, with an initial schedule of three flights per week, the airline said in a statement on Monday, April 7.
The new Manila-Da Nang route is the third major expansion move in Vietnam this year for PAL, the first Asian airline to open up regular flights to Vietnam way back in September 1986.
PAL recently upgraded its Manila-Hanoi route to a daily service, and will launch flights between Cebu and Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) starting on May 2.
“We at Philippine Airlines are excited to strengthen our close relationship with the Vietnamese people with the introduction of direct Manila-Da Nang flights,” said Capt. Stanley Ng, PAL president and chief operating officer.
“We look forward to welcoming more leisure and business travelers onboard our flights to Da Nang,” Ng added.
Da Nang offers a mix of rich history, picturesque beaches and modern attractions. It is also an accessible gateway to several UNESCO World Heritage sites, including the Old Town of Hoi An, the archeological ruins of My Son and the fabled Imperial City of Hue.
PAL’s Manila-Da Nang flights depart from Ninoy Aquino International Airport every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, deploying Airbus A321 jetliners that accommodate up to 199 passengers.
In addition to the new Manila-Da Nang route, the Cebu-Ho Chi Minh City routes and the daily Manila-Hanoi services, PAL also operates eight weekly flights between Manila and Ho Chi Minh City.
