Flag carrier Philippines Airlines (PAL) has signed an agreement with ENGIE, a global leader in low-carbon energy and services, as part of its sustainability initiatives.

ENGIE to help the flag carrier manage its resources more efficiently, while pursuing its mission of serving the traveling public.

The memorandum of understanding (MOU) will specifically address four key areas of exploration and collaboration: energy risk management services, carbon credits procurement supply, decarbonization strategies and decarbonization projects.

The MOU was signed by Capt. Stanley Ng, PAL president and chief operating officer; Thomas Baudlot, chief executive officer (CEO) of Energy Solutions APAC and country head Southeast Asia for ENGIE South East Asia; Alvin Kendrich Limqueco, PAL supply chain management group and chief data privacy officer; and Varun Gujral, CEO of ENGIE Global Energy Management & Sales APAC.

“Philippine Airlines is focused strongly on connecting the Philippines to markets around the world via our network of nonstop flights. Having ENGIE as a key partner helps us manage our resources more efficiently and work towards a more sustainable world in air travel, for the benefit of our economy and the traveling public,” said Ng.

“ENGIE is proud to partner with Philippine Airlines on their decarbonization journey. Together, we will explore ways to reduce their environmental impact and foster a greener, more environmentally conscious future for the aviation sector, in the Philippines and beyond,” Baudlot said.
