Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) yesterday started flying between Cebu and the Bangsamoro region, with nonstop Cebu-Cotabato flights and one-stop Cebu-Tawi-Tawi flights.

“Our new Cebu-Cotabato-Tawi-Tawi service brings good news for our Cebuano and Bangsamoro compatriots, in time for the holiday season and the new year,” said Bud Britanico, PAL vice president for sales

“We hope to connect families, spur holiday travel and stimulate business in the BARMM (Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao). We look forward to serving them well in the months ahead,” he added.

The PAL service added Cotabato City and Tawi-Tawi to the growing network of inter-island flights out of the flag carrier’s Mactan-Cebu hub, supporting the recovery and resurgence of domestic tourism and the economic development throughout the Philippines.

From December 1, the twice weekly PAL Cebu-BARMM flights have the following schedules: Cebu-Cotabato, every Monday and Thursday; Cotabato-Cebu, every Monday and Thursday; Cebu-Tawi-Tawi (via Cotabato), every Monday and Thursday; and Tawi-Tawi-Cebu (via Cotabato), every Monday and Thursday.

PAL said the Cebu-BARMM flights are operated with the 86-seater De Havilland Dash 8 Series 400 aircraft, a high-performance turboprop offering jet-like comfort in a quieter cabin. – Myla Iglesias
