American company Collins Aerospace recently hosted Philippine Airlines (PAL) for the First Article Inspection (FAI) of aircraft seats at its Tanauan City facility.

The FAI, which validates a product has been manufactured to the required specifications, is part of the first-seating collaboration between Collins’ Philippines facility and the nation’s flag carrier.

Stanley Ng, president of PAL, led a delegation of airline executives in inspecting the Pinnacle main cabin seats, which will be installed on the carrier’s narrow-body aircraft.

PAL is the first airline in the country to install locally made seats.

“This collaboration between Collins Aerospace and Philippine Airlines represents a significant step forward for the Philippines’ aerospace industry,” said Mary DeStaffan, senior director of operations at Collins Aerospace Philippines. “The expansion of Collins’ main cabin seating production at our Philippines location, in addition to installing the seats to fly on the nation’s flag carrier soon, showcases our facility’s world-class capabilities and demonstrates the potential for growth in the local aerospace sector.”

The Pinnacle main cabin seat provides enhanced passenger comfort and modular design, balancing durability with optimized living space and modern passenger amenities.

First opened in 2012, Collins’ Philippines facility manufactures a range of cabin interior products, including galleys, galley inserts, oxygen equipment, and lavatories.

Collins Aerospace, an RTX business, is a leader in integrated and intelligent solutions for the global aerospace and defense industry.
