GLOBE STT GDC Inc. is seeking to register two data centers valued at P9.3 billion with the Board of Investments (BOI), the BOI said on Wednesday.

The applications filed by Globe STT will be discussed during the board’s management committee meeting next week, BOI Director for Infrastructure and Industries Services Mary Ann Raganit said.

“Data centers are in the list of priority sectors of the BOI,” Raganit said.

Globe STT is a joint venture created by Ayala Corp., Globe Telecom Inc. and Singapore-based ST Telemedia Global Data Centres. ST Telemedia operates 95 data centers across 11 countries.

The first project, STT Cavite 2 Data Center, will rise at the Gateway Business Park in General Trias, Cavite. It will have a 6 megawatts (MW) capacity and 916 data racks.

The other, STT Fairview 1, will be in Fairview, District 5, Quezon City. It has a much larger capacity of 28 MW and 4,200 racks, which is supposedly the biggest data center in the country once completed.

Both data centers are expected to start operating in August 2025, Raganit said.

Once the board approves both projects as Tier I Preferred Activities–Infrastructure and Logistics under the 2022 Strategic Investment Priorities Plan, STT Cavite and STT Fairview be given at least four years of income tax holiday, as well as a special income tax rate after the tax holiday has lapsed.

Globe Telecom said in a project brief the STT Fairview campus is “designed to accelerate the nation’s digital transformation and meet the rising demand for artificial intelligence workloads.”

Raganit said the board has so far registered four data center projects, one of which was the P21-billion VITRO Sta. Rosa inaugurated last week.

VITRO is the country’s first hyperscale data center equipped to support artificial intelligence workloads. It has a 50-megawatt capacity and is designed to serve cloud and artificial intelligence needs of global tech leaders.
