Proponents of what is touted as the Philippines’ largest floating solar facility and the first green renewable energy plant have signed a supply agreement worth P66 billion, according to the Board of Investments.
In a statement on Thursday, the BOI indicated that the solar floaters project will begin commercial operations in 2026 to produce 1.3 gigawatts in the Laguna Lake.
The supply agreement, signed on July 22, 2025, in Taguig City, brought together the proponents: SunAsia Energy Inc., BlueSolar Holdings Inc., Sungrow FPV Sci. & Tech.Ltd, and Taison Industrial Corp. for the signing and rollout of the project.
Under the agreement, Taison will locally manufacture and deploy 75,000 solar floaters to support an initial 50 megawatt rollout through the country’s first green factory dedicated to RE infrastructure.
This project, endorsed by BOI under the Green Lane initiative (Executive Order No. 18), introduces innovative floating solar technology.
The BOI added that the project will tap local expertise in large-scale blow molding for infrastructure-grade components.
