Multi-modal terminal Taguig City Integrated Terminal Exchange (TCITX), which aims to provide seamless travel between Metro Manila, Laguna and Batangas, will start its operation in the first quarter of 2027, according to Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Jaime Bautista.

DOTr and Arca South Integrated Terminals Inc. of Ayala Land Inc. yesterday broke ground for TCITX on Arca South mixed-use development in Taguig City on Monday.

Bautista said the facility will be built for P4 billion under the government’s public private partnership of which Arca South Integrated will be responsible for the construction and management upon completion.

TCITX, seen to duplicate the success of the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange, will decongest the southern portion of Metro Manila while providing travelers with efficient and accessible transportation, Bautista said.

“This project will be instrumental in decongesting major thoroughfares and offering a smoother journey for the riding public. We eagerly anticipate its completion and operational launch in the first quarter of 2027,” he said in his speech at the groundbreaking ceremony.

The terminal has a capacity to serve 160,000 passengers and accommodate 5,200 vehicles daily which are aimed at rationalizing transfer points of people and goods in the country, especially for the commuting public coming from Laguna, Cavite and Batangas, added Bautista.

The 5.57-hectare public-private partnership project will include passenger terminal buildings, arrival and departure bays, public information systems, ticketing and baggage handling facilities as well as park-ride facilities.

Similar to the PITX, the TCITX will feature passenger-friendly facilities.

Once operational, the TCITX will have interfaces with the Southeast Metro Manila Expressway (SEMME) or C6 Expressway through entry and exit ramps, the North-South Commuter Railway System and the Metro Manila Subway Project, Bautista said.

Meanwhile, SMC Infrastructure, the concessionaire for the 32.66-kilometer SEMME, said the project will connect the Skyway System at the Arca South central business district all the way to Batasan Complex in Quezon City.

The expressway will provide an alternate route from the South to the Eastern parts of Metro Manila including Rizal province.

“This 32.7-km toll road, a combination of elevated and at-grade expressways, will create a much-needed alternate route from Parañaque to Quezon City, bypassing traffic-heavy roads and easing congestion along EDSA and other key corridors,” Bautista said. — Reuters
