LOCAL energy company Petro Energy Resources Corp. (PERC) said its 27.121 megawatts (MW) Dagohoy solar power plant in Bohol is set for commercial operations by Wednesday this week.

PERC said in a statement on Monday that this development follows the Energy Regulatory Commission’s approval on July 4, 2025 of the plant’s provisional authority to operate and the Independent Electricity Market Operator of the Philippines’ (IEMOP) approval on July 8 of the facility’s commercial operations date in the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM).

The company said the P1.2 billion project in Bohol is among four utility-scale ground mounted solar projects with aggregate capacity of 111.58 MW under Rizal Green Energy Corp. — a joint venture between Taisei Corp., one of Japan’s biggest and oldest infrastructure construction companies, and PERC’s Petro Green Energy Corp. (PGEC).

Also included in the portfolio are the 19.61 MW San Jose plant in Nueva Ecija that is awaiting ERC and IEMOP approval for commercial operations, the 25.01 MW Bugallon plant in Pangasinan, and the 39.84 MW Limbauan solar plant in Isabela. The Bugallon and Limbauan plants are both set for completion late this year.

“We are proud that our Dagohoy solar power facility is set to begin commercial operations in Bohol, adding much needed indigenous and clean energy in the province which has long relied on imported power from neighboring provinces and a few small capacity diesel and hydro power plants operating in the province,” PGEC Assistant Vice President for Power Markets Dave Gadiano said.

“This milestone not only increases Bohol’s energy security but also boosts the provincial government’s efforts to make Bohol a premier ecotourism destination in the country. Our formal commercial participation in the WESM also marks the commencement of our power supply agreement with our offtaker SN Aboitiz Power,” he added.

PERC’s other existing power projects include the 70 MW Tarlac solar power project as well as the 36 MW phase 1 of the Aklan wind power project and its 13.2 MW second phase.

The company, through its affiliate firm, Buhawind Energy Northern Luzon Corp., is also developing offshore wind projects in Ilocos Norte’s coast with a projected capacity of around 2,000 MW as well as in Northern Mindoro and East Panay, each with projected capacities of 1,000 MW.
