The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) has exceeded its collection target by over P2.29 billion or 43.5 percent as of mid-October.
NTC said in a statement target collection for 2021 was pegged at P5.27 billion but actual collection as of October 15 stood at P7.57 billion.
This is the sixth straight year the NTC exceeded its collection target.
NTC Commissioner Gamaliel Cordoba said the agency’s income target was surpassed despite the restrictions imposed on people’s mobility due to the new coronavirus disease 209-19 pandemic.
NTC attributed this performance to the strict enforcement of stakeholders’ compliance in remitting spectrum users’ fees, supervision and regulation fees and penalties.
NTC regulates cable and commercial television operators, broadcast radio stations, telecommunications companies and commercial and portable radio operators.
