The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is studying the petition of manufacturers of Noche Buena products seeking price increases, according to assistant secretary Ann Cabochan.

At the Laging Handa public briefing, Cabochan said the DTI will soon issue the price bulletin for products that are normally served during the Christmas season.

These include ham, keso de bola, cheese, pasta or spaghetti, elbow macaroni and salad macaroni, spaghetti sauce, tomato sauce, mayonnaise and all purpose cream.

Cabochan assured there is ample supply of these products but that the DTI is closely coordinating with manufacturers and appeal to temper the increases.

Aside from increases in raw material costs, Cabochan said factors like oil, transport cost, foreign exchange are being considered in the review.

Undersecretary Ruth Castelo earlier said the DTI earlier received the petition for price increase of 10 of the 20 Noche Buena products including some stock keeping units of ham, pasta and mayonnaise.
