The Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) will again suspend disconnection activities in Laguna beginning August 1 to 15 and the National Capital Region from August 6 to 20 due to the implementation of enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).
The suspension will not be applicable to the rest of Meralco’s franchise area under general community quarantine (GCQ) or modified general community, particularly Bulacan, Cavite Rizal, Batangas and Quezon Province.
“We encourage customers, particularly those with concerns with their previous bills, to reach out, so we can discuss and help clarify their concerns and to even come up with payment terms, if really needed. We also have several platforms by which you can reach us. We hope customers will also take advantage of this period to avoid the inconvenience of having to queue long lines once the ECQ is again lifted,” said Ferdinand Geluz, Meralcofirst vice president and chief commercial officer, in a statement.
Geluz also assured that for customers in areas under GCQ, Meralco will continue to be considerate to assist customers with their concerns.
Meralco also reiterated that it will continue vital operations such as meter reading and bill delivery activities following the order of the Energy Regulatory Commission and will also continue to deploy its crew 24/7 to serve customers especially on emergencies and technical problems. – Jed Macapagal
