OVER 2,400 employees of Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) will be absorbed by New NAIA Infrastructure Corp. (NNIC) as part of a smooth transition of Ninoy Aquino International Airport operation starting tomorrow, September 14.
Chris Bendijo, MIAA spokesperson said in a television interview at Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon yesterday, over 450 organic employees of MIAA have signed an employment contract with NNIC and a few more were scheduled to sign yesterday.
NNIC is offering a lucrative employment package for the MIAA employees: a 25 percent increase in their basic salary, a signing bonus that is equivalent to two times their monthly basic salary, and separation incentives.
However, Bendijo said there are about 100 organic employees who decided not to transfer to NNIC.
He said MIAA will look for available positions in other government agencies for these employees.
Around 2,000 employees assigned to the operation and maintenance of NAIA are expected to transfer to NNIC.
Last month, Roberto Lim, undersecretary of the Department of Transportation, said at least 77.5 percent of MIAA employees have acce[ted the employment offered by NNIC.
Lim said airport police and other essential MIAA employees will be retained as organic personnel.
