The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said it is scheduled to complete the Tuy-Dasmariñas 500 kilovolt (kV) transmission line project this year.

Redi Allan Remoroza, NGCP head of transmission planning, told reporters on the sidelines of a corporate event in San Juan City on Wednesday the project will be crucial for the Bulacan airport.

“This is in South Luzon and for completion this year. It’s a major transmission point,” Remoroza said.

The Tuy–Dasmariñas 500 kV transmission line was approved by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) in October 2024 at a cost of P8.1 billion.

NGCP said the project involves the construction of a 49-kilometer double circuit overhead transmission line to be initially energized at 230kV voltage level.

The project will also involve the development of a new substation to accommodate the entry of an additional 5,215.55 megawatts of proposed generation capacity near Calaca, Batangas, the company added.

NGCP said it is hopeful that the ERC will also be able to resolve the recent deferment of decision for its six transmission projects worth P20.32 billion.

The six projects are the P6.35-billion Laray 230 kV substation project in Cebu, P4.42-billion San Simon 230 kV substation project in Pampanga, P3.61-billion Maco-Mati 138 kV transmission project in Davao Oriental, P3.32-billion Calbayog-Allen transmission line project in Northern Samar, P1.64-billion Pinili 230 kV substation project in Ilocos and the P999.71-million Concepcion-Sta. Ignacia 69 kV transmission line project in Tarlac.
