The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said all of its 69 kilovolt (kV) transmission lines affected by Typhoon Odette in Bohol have been restored last Tuesday, 13 days ahead of target schedule.
However, NGCP is still working on restoring two remaining 138 kV lines in Bohol to establish the region’s connection back to the grid.
NGCP added all 138kV lines in Cebu have now been restored, reinforcing the reliability and stability of power transmission services with all distribution utilities in the province energized last Christmas day.
NGCP said as of Wednesday, actual loading of power in Bohol is at 26 percent; Cebu, 73 percent; Negros, 91 percent and; Leyte, 91 percent. Meanwhile, loading in Panay and Samar are at 100 percent.
NGCP said the percentages represent the current amount of consumption or drawdown of power monitored from the areas.
“We are continuously working on the restoration of the remaining affected transmission lines at the soonest possible time. We are coordinating with relevant internal and external groups to expedite all our activities, as well as ensure the safety of our deployed personnel,” NGCP said in a statement.
At the height of restoration activities, NGCP deployed more than 1,000 personnel composed of linemen, engineers and other support personnel to simultaneously expedite the restoration of transmission services in all affected areas.
