The Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) said water supply in areas served by the Angat Dam will be sufficient until next year.

Patrick James Dizon, MWSS division manager for Angat-Ipo operation management, said at the Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon public briefing yesterday  Angat Dam is likely to hit normal high water level of 212 meters by yearend.

Dizon said as of yesterday morning, Angat Dam’s elevation is at 208.66 meters which is near MWSS’ target elevation of 210 meters by yearend.

“Compared to our water elevation last year, our elevation today is around 10 meters more…,” Dizon added.

The MWSS added the current water level trend in the Angat Dam gives the agency high confidence water supply will be sufficient even with the expected effect of El Nino until the second quarter of next year.

However, Dizon said the public should still be wise in water consumption as such practice, alongside the effects of recent rains in watersheds, have helped Angat Dam reach comfortable water levels.

Angat Dam supplies raw water for the MWSS service areas in Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite and Rizal Provinces. It also provides water for irrigation services in Bulacan and Pampanga.
