Local power plant developer Mariveles Power Generation Corp. (MPGC) is seeking approval from the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) to develop, own and/or operate a dedicated point-to-point transmission line to connect its 1,200 megawatts (MW) coal-fired power plant in Bataan to the Luzon Grid.

In a notice of virtual hearing posted by the ERC, the company said the facility is estimated to have a project cost of P1.87 billion and will be directly connected to the Alas-Asin 500 kilovolt substation of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines.

MPGC also said in the filing it will fund the project cost and will not cause any impact on regulated charges as it also intends to complete the facility on time for the testing and commissioning of the initial phase of the coal-fired power plant by December this year. –Jed Macapagal
