THE Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has approved the proposal of

Iloilo-based power distribution utility, MORE Electric and Power Corp. (MORE Power) to consolidate the company’s net-metering and distributed energy resource certificate of compliance applications.

The consolidation will simplify the process for customers interested in employing renewable energy solutions such as rooftop solar installation not only in Iloilo City but also extending to Central Negros and Tagbilaran City, according to Roel Castro, MORE Power president and chief executive officer, in a statement on Sunday.

The ERC agreed to the consolidation of applications at MORE Power’s Iloilo office, where it will maintain a monthly schedule.

The arrangement allows authorized ERC representatives to assess applications on-site, expediting the issuance of statements of account for submissions from MORE Power, as well as from Negros Electric and Power Corp. and Bohol Light Co. Inc. and serves as a one-stop-shop to make the application process more accessible and efficient for consumers.

The parties said this will “significantly enhance” renewable energy adoption in Visayas and in turn, help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and lower electricity costs for households and small businesses. Under the net-metering program, solar power facility owners with up to 100 kilowatts peak capacity can export their excess electricity to the grid in exchange for electricity bill credits that can be in the form of rebates.
