MORE Electric and Power Corp. (MORE Power) has launched on-site registration in barangays to process applications of customers qualified for lifeline rate subsidies, to reach more Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program members and marginalized sectors.
Roel Castro, MORE Power president and chief executive officer, said the goal is to get in touch directly with the groups concerned so more qualified customers can avail the program.
“In addition to accepting applications in our office, we also deploy personnel to barangays for on-site registration,” Castro said.
As of August 2, MORE Power has received 1,519 applications from 42 barangays, as Castro urged eligible applicants to take advantage of the subsidy program.
MORE Power said the discount rate depends on consumption. Those who consume between 81 kilowatt hours (kWh) and 95 kWh can avail of 10 percent discount, and 20 percent for those consuming 71 kWh to 80 kWh.
For consumption between 61 kWh and 70 kWh, the subsidy is up to 35 percent; 51 kWh to 60 kWh, 45 percent discount; 21 kWh to 50 kWh, up to 50 percent discount; and 20 kWh or less, 100 percent subsidy.
Meanwhile, MORE Power has implemented its third installment of bill deposit refund.
Consumers who regulary pay their electric bill for 36 months are qualified for the bill deposit refund.
