Another power distribution utility has joined the electric vehicle bandwagon as MORE Electric and Power Corp. is pioneering an electric shuttle service in Iloilo City.

The company said the program will be implemented in collaboration with SM City Iloilo.

MORE Power launched last Friday the first 10 units of the membership shuttle service that covers an initial route from the city hall to the Ceres North Bound Terminal, stopping at various SM locations from Monday to Saturday.

The company also expects the arrival of two more electric bus units in October, with seven additional units scheduled to follow suit by yearend. Each electric bus costs P4 to P4.5 million.

Roel Castro, MORE Power president and chief executive officer, said the introduction of electric buses supports the company’s sustainability goals and addresses the city’s need for more eco-friendly transport alternatives.

MORE Power said since the fleet of electric bus leaves no pollution, it will be contributing to cleaner air, quieter streets and an overall enhancement of urban living conditions.

The company added the electric vehicles feature amenities such as ramps and designated seats to ensure accessibility and comfort for all passengers, including persons with disabilities. – Jed Macapagal
