Improved power services are expected in Iloilo after MORE Power energized the 30/36 megavolt amperes New Megaworld substation in the Iloilo Business Park on Sunday.

The firm said the facility will allow the business park and its surrounding areas to have a more stable and reliable power supply, making it an ideal location for businesses and more attractive to potential investors.

MORE Power said the substation is equipped with modern machinery and technology, including a digital interface for easy connection to smart grid applications and online dissolved gas analyzer.

The company added the facility also features a self-dehydrating breather and automation features as it is also protected from external and internal faults due to a transformer differential protection and modern overcurrent protection relays that are coordinated with other line protection devices.

MORE Power said this is also its first permanent substation project since taking over operations in February 2020.

“The energization of the substation marks a significant milestone for MORE Power in fulfilling its mandate of providing reliable and cost-efficient electric power distribution service to Iloilo City. We are fully committed to the upgrading of the power infrastructures here to meet the needs of our customers and support the economic growth of the city,” said Roel Castro, MORE Power president and chief executive officer, in a statement.

MORE Power added the facility is just the first among a series of ongoing upgrades and rehabilitation of electric power infrastructures in the region. – Jed Macapagal
