Metro Pacific Agri Ventures Inc. (MPAV) is expanding its milk producing capacity with an eye to produce 10 million liters of milk per year in five yearse.
MPAV is expanding its dairy and ice cream business to have close to 3,000 cows for the same period.
Jovy Hernandez, MPAV president, said the Carmen’s Best has just completed a barn in Laguna that will house an additional 150 pregnant cows, set to arrive in two months.
“If we produced 300,000 liters per annum last year, with the additional cows this year, it will go up to 700,000 liters per annum,” he said.
Hernandez said the company expects the addition of 600 milking cows once its joint venture Metro Pacific Dairy Farm with Israel’s LR Group goes online by the first quarter of next year.
“All told, our five-year forecast is that we will get close to 3,000 cows and we will be producing 10 million liters per year,” he said.
MPAV, meanwhile, expects its greenhouse facility in San Rafael, Bulacan, to be online by the fourth quarter of the year. – Ruelle Castro
