THE Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) will now proceed with the conduct of two competitive selection process (CSP) for power deals of 1,000 megawatts (MW) after clearing legal hurdles.
The CSPs will involve 600 MW and 400 MW of power supply requirements needed starting August next year for a 15-year tenure.
Meralco said for the 600 MW CSP, the new bid submission deadline will be on August 27.
Eight power generation companies that own coal-fired power plants and natural gas-fired power plants have earlier signified interest to supply for Meralco’s 600 MW CSP.
The company is yet to issue a new bid schedule for the 400 MW CSP which earlier attracted the interest of six power generation companies which Meralco has yet to identify.
The conduct of the two CSPs were halted when the Taguig Regional Trial Court issued a temporary restraining order which was later on lifted.
