The Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) has started the competitive selection process (CSP) for 1,200 megawatts (MW) of baseload power requirement to ensure continued availability of sufficient and reliable supply for its customers.

Meralco said the Department of Energy (DOE) issued a certificate of conformity on the terms of reference (TOR) on the 15-year power supply agreements that will be secured from the CSP and will be only effective once approved by the Energy Regulatory Commission.

The company, through its bids and awards committee for power supply agreements, called on interested power generation companies to participate in the CSP. Submission of expression of interest is due on December 11 while a pre-bid conference is scheduled on December 18.
