THE Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) said its power sales volume in August likely grew 6 percent from the same month in 2023.

The company said power sales volume in the first eight months of 2024 may have increased 7.8 percent from the same period last year.

Ferdinand Geluz, Meralco senior vice president and chief revenue officer, told reporters in a message over the weekend growth was mainly driven by better performances across all three customer segments, residential, commercial and industrial.

Meralco did not provide the sales figures.

Geluz said the company’s power sales volume remained “robust even with rainy season setting in.”

Geluz said in August, power sales volume likely grew 8 to 10 percent for residential; 5 to 7 percent for commercial and 2 to 4 percent for industrial.

Geluz said Meralco’s customer count is now at 7.95 million.
