The Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) said has completed three power substation upgrades worth a total of P683.74 million in the first quarter of 2025.
Based on information available on the company’s website, Bonifacio Global City, Makati City, Valenzuela City, Malabon City as well as areas in Laguna and Cavite are among areas that now benefiting from the upgrade.
Meralco upgraded its Fort Bonifacio Global City-2 Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) substation in January worth P226.49 million.
The company said the completed project has provided additional capacity to accommodate load growth, as well as improve flexibility and reliability, especially to customers that include the Department of Energy, St. Luke’s Medical Center, Philippine National Oil Co., Market Market and Serendra.
Meralco also expanded the Malinta GIS in February worth P188.41 million.
The distribution utility (DU) said this has been ensuring flexibility and reliability of service especially for key customers such as the Manhattan Rubber Plastic Manufacturing, St. Jude Academy Valenzuela, Johnson Manufacturing Co. Inc., First Rubber Manufacturing Co. Inc. and Atlas Metal Production Manufacturing Co. Inc.
Meralco also energized the Mesaland 115 kV-34 kilovolt (kV) substation last March worth P268.84 million to provide additional capacity to serve load growth in the areas of Sta. Rosa, Cabuyao, and Calamba in Laguna as well as Silang, and Tagaytay City in Cavite.
The company added that the upgraded facility has improved services for crucial customers in the area including Ayala Malls Nuvali, Hacienda Sta. Elena, Georgia Club, Augusta, Mesa Homes Village, Adventist University of the Philippines, and the Medical City South Luzon.
