Meralco beefs up EV fleet

Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) subsidiary, eSakay Inc. has partnered with two carmakers last month to support the company’s Green Mobility program.

e-Sakay tapped both BYD and Pilipinas Autogroup to help the company transform its entire vehicle fleet to be fully electric in the coming years.

Meralco tapped BYD for the T3 model which is a 7-seater fully electric van with a range of 250 kilometers (km) per charge and the e2 model which is an EV compact hatchback.

e-Sakay tapped Pilipinas Auto’s Dongfeng models; Rich 6 EV which has a permanent magnet synchronous motor capable of a cruising range of 403 km and; the EM26 Cargo Van EV ideal for courier and logistics companies as it can carry 1,360 kilograms and run as much as 220 km in a single charge.
