SELECT customers of Maynilad Water Services Inc. in Imus, Cavite will get a refund after experiencing water quality non-compliance incidents, according to the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage Services-Regulatory Office (MWSS-RO).
MWSS-RO, said during a public information drive that Maynilad was penalized P3.92 million due to poor water quality.
The amount translates to a rebate of P1,122.37 for a total of 3,494 customers in nine barangays.
Earlier this week, MWSS-RO also slapped Maynilad with a P2.04 million penalty that translates to a rebate of P530.69 for a total of 3,841 customers in Caloocan affected by water quality issues.
Maynilad said these incidents are being resolved.
“We have implemented enhanced process interventions, including intensified pipe flushing, accelerated pipe replacements, and expedited leak repairs and closure of illegal connections,” Maynilad said.
The company added it continues to take proactive measures to ensure the reliability and safety of services and works closely with the MWSS-RO and the Department of Health in monitoring the quality of the water supply distributed to customers.
