MANILA Water Co. Inc. subsidiary Manila Water Philippine Ventures (MWPV) has been tapped by the Canlubang Sugar Estate (CSE) for a 25-year partnership on a bulk water supply project which will improve water access in Laguna.

Manila Water said in a statement the P1.4-billion bulk water supply project involves the rehabilitation of the Matang Tubig Spring (MTS) as water source and the construction of a 13 kilometer water transmission line that will connect the MTS Source Upper Box to the Laguna Wellfield Reservoir in LTI Annex, Biñan.

It said the project will be constructed by MWPV’s construction arm, Manila Water Infratech Solutions and will be managed and operated by its operating unit, Estate Water.

The MWPV-CSE Bulk Water Supply Project aims to secure a more sustainable surface water supply compared to the typical groundwater sources. Over the next 25 years, Estate Water will supply 17 million liters of potable water from MTS daily to Laguna Water, MWPV’s concessionaire in the province of Laguna.
