Lucio Co to raise P7.5B to fund liquor distribution biz

The Keepers Holdings Inc. formerly, Da Vinci Capital Holdings Inc., is looking to raise as much as P7.5 billion in funding for its alcoholic drinks distribution business.

The company is looking to sell as much as 3 billion shares at an offer price of between P2 and P2.50 per share.d

The company has yet to sign the underwriting mandate for the fund-raising activity.

Lucio Co’s Cosco Capital Inc. recently took control of The Keepers, then still Da Vinci Capital, after a share-swap arrangement wherein Cosco Capital assigned to Da Vinci its shares in Montosco Inc., Meritus Prime Distributions Inc. and Premier Wine and Spirits Inc., operating companies engaged in the importation, distribution and marketing of imported alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

“The Keepers Holdings, Inc. is now the largest distributor of imported spirits in the Philippines,” said Jose Paulino Santamarina, company president.

Santamaria said the company “presently holds around 70 to 75 percent of the market in terms of volume, based on a report by IWSR, the global benchmark for beverage alcohol data and intelligence.”

“The Keepers, through Montosco, Meritus, and Premier, has grown a comprehensive international brand portfolio with leading positions across multiple varieties of imported spirits since the group entered the business in June 1996 with Premier Wine and Spirits Inc.,” Santamaria said.
