LRMC names new CEO, GM

Light Rail Manila Corp. (LRMC), operator of the Light Rail Transit line 1 (LRT-1), yesterday announced the appointment of Jose Ma. Lim as the company’s interim president and chief executive officer (CEO), and Enrico Benipayo as the new general manager effective this month.

This as Juan Alfonso, who served as LRMC president and CEO in the past six years, steps up to a leadership position in Metro Pacific Light Rail Corp. (MPLRC).

Alfonso has led the LRMC team in rehabilitating the existing LRT-1 system, achieving significant progress for the LRT-1 Cavite Extension Project-Phase 1 despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, and building LRMC into an organization focused on service excellence.

Meanwhile, Benipayo, who previously served as LRMC’s former chief operating officer, will lead the company’s day-to-day activities as the new general manager.

Benipayo has a full breadth of knowledge in the rail transport sector having accumulated over 35 years of professional experience in the fields of engineering, procurement and construction, maintenance, and O&M consultancy.

As part of the transition process, Lim, who is also LRMC executive committee and MPIC director, will assume the role of LRMC president and CEO on an interim basis.

MPLRC is one of LRMC’s shareholders that is owned by Metro Pacific Investments Corp. and Sumitomo Corp.
