The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) warned of low power supply in the Luzon Grid until August as multiple power plants are on outage.
The power grid operator said in a statement the extended power outages is due to technical limitations brought by the pandemic such as delays in delivery of materials and spare parts apart from temporary work stoppage and travel restrictions.
“We continue to urge the authorities to look into this impending power situation in Luzon during this summer season. As the transmission service provider, NGCP can only guarantee the dispatch of all and any available grid resources. It cannot intervene on matters concerning power generation,” it said.
NGCP maintains an annual grid operating and maintenance program which schedules the preventive maintenance of power plants, taking into consideration the needed supply against projected demand.
