‘Lio estate is titled’

Ayala Land Inc. said its Lio Estate development under unit Ten Knots Philippines Inc. (TKPI) is within titled properties and is not part of the areas claimed by an indigenous people’s (IP) group in El Nido, Palawan.

The realtor said TKPI was issued a certificate of non-overlap by the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) for its project and that the initial phases of its Lio Estate project are not part of any ancestral domain.

“Under the IPRA (Indigenous People’s Rights Act of 1997), titled lands shall be recognized and respected,” it said.

This follows after a community of Tagbanuwa Tandulanen in El Nido questioned the project for an alleged lack of prior informed consent from the community when it was built.

The community claims the NCIP has ordered Lio Estate to cease from operation.

Ayala Land said TKPI is cooperating with the NCIP “and has submitted all the documents required for its compliance thereto. TKPI is fully committed to undergo the processes of the NCIP to resolve the matter.”
