LAPTOP sales on credit are expected to peak at 1,200 units daily this back-to-school season in September driven by the ongoing digital learning revolution.
Consumer finance company Home Credit Philippines (HCPH) made this projection based on its performance the past two years, where a notable increase in laptop sales is registered July through September.
Sheila Paul, chief marketing officer of HCPH, said the 1,200 units projection matches that of actual sales in September last year.
Paul said HCPH’s recent sales report highlights a consistent growth trend reaching the surge earlier than last year’s September since the academic calendar started earlier this year.
In 2022, Home Credit sold P4.7 billion worth of laptops and rose to P5.3 billion in 2023, marking a 12.5 percent year-over-year increase.
HCPH said students and professionals increasingly relying on laptops for online classes, research, and other academic activities.
Anticipating a similar trend this year, Home Credit launched the Sulit-Skwela deals, designed to simplify the process of upgrading to the latest gadgets and ensuring students are well-prepared for the new school year.
Home Credit’s Sulit-Skwela offers feature zero interest deals on a wide range of back-to-school essentials until September 30. This includes laptops, smartphones and tablets.
