Kia Philippines sees a 15-percent growth in sales for 2023, faster than the outlook for the industry of 10 percent.
Manny Aligada, Kia president, said depending on how several factors come into play, there could be an upside on the figures.
Aligada said if the supply for cars stabilizes, and the economy continues to expand, the numbers can further improve.
Aligada expects the foreign exchange rate to be more stable than last year. A similar improvement in interest rates will provide further push, he added.
Kia sold 5,012 units in 2022, a 34 percent increase from 3,748 units in 2021.
Kia yesterday launched its electrified vehicle model, the EV6, which Aligada said will be the company’s flagship model.
Aligada said while Kia EV6 will not deliver volumes, it will present Kia’s capability to have an aspirational vehicle owing to its award winning design and up to date technology,
The EV6 will cater to the discerning EV market and will be supported with charging options manufactured by Integrated Micro-Electronics Inc. (part of the Ayala Group) and its partner Greenstrum, and an expanding charging system network provided by Ayala Land.
Bong Consing, Ayala president and chief executive officer, said the Group expects EV take-up to grow rapidly, and EVs to be the dominant transport technology in a few years.
