President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. yesterday acknowledged and welcomed the private sector-led initiative Kapatid Angat Lahat for Agriculture Program (KALAP), which provides small farmers, fisherfolk, agri-entrepreneurs as well as micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) access to funding and training.
KALAP aims to help them become more “productive, profitable, sustainable and globally competitive” as well as be integrated into the value chains of large companies in the country.
The President, after witnessing the signing of a memorandum of agreement on KALAP, expressed gratitude to Go Negosyo for the initiative.
Marcos recognized the role of big corporations in innovating MSMEs, spurring their growth and realizing their potential, while acknowledging the small entrepreneurs’ crucial role in the creation of new ideas that lead to jobs and wealth for the country.
“I am very happy to note the objective of the KALAP to integrate small farmers and agri-entrepreneurs into the value chain of large companies,” he said, highlighting the benefits of a whole-of-society approach where the government, private businesses and the public join together and support the program and one another. – Jocelyn Montemayor
