Local industrial gases and engineering company Linde Philippines, has started commissioning its nitrogen and hydrogen production plants at the manufacturing complex of JG Summit Olefins Corp. (JGSOC) in Batangas City.
Linde said it invested over $10 million in the new facilities that came on stream in April 2022 which will supply the industrial gases requirements for JGSOC’s naphtha cracker plant expansion.
Specifically, Linde’s project includes the installation of an Ecogan nitrogen generator and a pressure swing adsorption plant to recover and purify byproduct hydrogen from the naphtha cracker.
JGSOC’s naphtha cracker is designed to primarily produce polymer-grade ethylene and polymer-grade propylene, provides feedstock for the downstream polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) polymerization plants, which in turn provide a stable supply of PE and PP resin for the local plastics industry.
