Filipino-founded US biotech firm Intervenn targets to bring in half a billion in economic contribution to the Philippines where it recently set up its presence.
In a press conference over the weekend, the San Francisco, California-based company announced the availability in the country of a technology for early cancer detection.
Its office in Podium West Tower Ortigas center, Pasig City has a team of 150 workers, mostly software engineers, that form the backbone running the proprietary AI technology used in the company’s research.
Aldo Carrascoso, co-founder and chief executive officer, said Filipino engineers help build and maintain the front end, back end, and cloud infrastructure of the company’s next-generation liquid biopsy, referring to its products GLORIâ„¢ and DAWNâ„¢ .
The company plans to recruit more local talent as they further expand their business in the region.
Axel Kornerup, InterVenn Philippines general manager, said the company has been collaborating with local oncologists in running the VOCAL (InterVenn Ovarian Cancer Liquid Biopsy) testing program.
