Third telecom player DITO Telecommunity Corp. is working with phone manufacturers to have more fourth generation (4G) and fifth generation (5G) devices that are compatible with its network available in the market.
Adel Tamano, DITO chief administrative officer, said given the limited frequencies provided by the government, it was a strategic decision to focus on 4G and 5G.
This will enable DITO to deliver its commitments, Tamano added.
“Certain older phone models would really not be able to maximize the full potential of the next gen technology DITO has to offer — like providing high-definition voice calls,” he said.
“We are continuously working with handset manufacturers to certify and test more DITO-ready phones with 4G VoLTE (voice over Long Term Evolution) and 5G technology, so that more Filipinos can experience fast, affordable, and reliable connectivity with DITO,” Tamano added.
