MORE Power Iloilo has distributed the second round of its bill deposit refund program to eligible consumers last week.
Bill deposit is what consumers pay when they apply for their electric meter which must be returned by distribution utilities after three years or 36 months, provided the consumer pays on time and has no record of disconnection.
The company eyes to return bill deposits to around 777 customers by the end of the year.
“We have implemented this program in strict compliance with the law. The bill deposit does not belong to us; it rightfully belongs to our consumers. We are dutifully fulfilling our responsibility by returning what is rightfully theirs,” said Roel Castro, MORE Power president and chief executive officer, in a statement.
In May 2023, three eligible customers received a total refund of P9,000 in bill deposits while last month, a total of 20 eligible customers were refunded a total of P65,500 in bill deposits.
MORE Power said t for this month, approximately 65 customers will be eligible for the bill deposit refund. -Jed Macapagal
