International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI) said its Argentina operation is working towards establishing a feeder service that will connect the Port of Santa Fe to Brazil and Asia through its TecPlata terminal at the Port of La Plata.
TecPlata is Argentina’s most modern container terminal with an initial capacity of 450,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) and capable of being extended of up to 1 million TEUs that ICTSI is developing for $450 million.
ICTSI said TecPlata is collaborating with the Sta. Fe Port Administrative Entity for the conceptualized feeder service.
“Bruno Porchietto, TecPlata chief executive officer, and Carlos Arese, Santa Fe Port Administrative Entity president, have signed an agreement establishing the service that would make a minimum of two calls per month using 500-TEU barges operated by Newport Management,” the company said.
