Operadora Portuaria Centroamericana (OPC), the Honduras operation of International Container Terminal Services Inc., yesterday released its sustainability report detailing its social, environmental and economic performance, along with the impacts on communities, in Honduras and Central America,”
OPC said the report sets the “standard for ports in the country and the CA-4 region,”, and embodies the company’s commitment to transparency and accountability before investors, global clients and multilateral organizations.
The report was prepared using the internationally recognized Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) methodology, covering the period from 2022 to 2024,” ICTSI said in a statement issued Thursday.
According to Evelyn Leiva, OPC chief corporate social responsibility & sustainability officer, the report highlighted that OPC installed 10,200 square meters of solar panels, generating 1.6 MWp of clean energy and significantly reducing OPC’s carbon footprint as part of its clean energy investment.
It also revealed certifications like ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, and BASC standards, as well as compliance with IMDG and ISPS Codes.
“The report emphasizes OPC’s culture of respect, safety, diversity, and employee well-being,” it said.
ICTSI said that with the publishing of OPC’s sustainability report, it reinforces its alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and its commitment to operate with excellence, create shared value, and drive economic, social, and environmental progress for Honduras and Central America. — Ruelle Albert D.
