The IT and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) has laid down the framework for responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI), following findings of a recent survey among members that showed 11 percent have fully implemented Agentic AI with 56 percent actively integrating it into operations.

To date, the association has over 400 member companies.

In a statement, IBPAP said the blueprint for AI adoption will ensure its sustainable integration into the processes of IT-business process management (IT-BPM) companies.

The blueprint consists of the 4E Framework of education, engineering, enforcement and ethics that will run on Agentic AI.

Agentic is the latest innovation in artificial intelligence that goes beyond the task of simply reacting to prompts under the generative AI technology.

At its core Agentic AI has the ability to automate workflows, manage complex decision-making, and enhance operational scalability.

Unlike generative AI, which focuses on content creation, Agentic AI specializes in orchestrating processes, optimizing workflows, and driving intelligent automation that aligns with the structured, process-driven nature information technology-business process management operations.

IBPAP said critical functions now being performed by this type of AI are fraud detection, supply chain management, predictive analytics, and customer service escalations, enhancing efficiency and accuracy.

IT-BPM companies using Agentic AI can shift demand away from repetitive, routine tasks and transactional roles toward higher-value, AI-enhanced functions such as governance, human-AI collaboration, data analytics, process engineering, and AI-driven customer experience management.

“Agentic AI is reshaping how businesses deliver value to global clients,” IBPAP said.

Under the education framework of the AI blueprint, the association aims to expand AI learning pathways through certifications, boot camps, and degree programs.

For engineering, the association will at first focus on upgrading IT infrastructure and cloud capabilities to support AI-driven operations.

IBPAP will also pursue enforcement to establish AI compliance standards that ensure transparency and security in automated decision-making.

Under the ethics framework, IBPAP said it will promote fair, responsible, and human-centric AI to enhance, rather than replace, human expertise.

The findings of the survey signal a rapid transformation that demands large-scale workforce upskilling initiatives to ensure the industry remains competitive.

IBPAP vowed to continue working with government and academic institutions in bridging the AI-driven skills gaps through AI boot camps and micro-credentialing programs to train employees in AI operations, governance, and ethical AI management.

Cross-skilling programs will help workers in traditional roles transition into AI workflow supervision, automation engineering, and decision-support functions.
