HOLCIM Philippines Inc. has suspended the operation of its Davao facility starting Saturday in response to the imposition of enhance community quarantine in Davao City.

The company said the suspension will be in effect until the ECQ is lifted or withdrawn.

“We wish to advise the public that, in compliance with Executive Order No. 23, Series of 2020 issued on 2 April 2020 by Mayor Sara Duterte imposing an enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) within Davao City, our operations in Davao City Holcim plant will be suspended effective April 4, 2020 until April 19, 2020, or until the ECQ is lifted or withdrawn,” it said.

On Thursday last week, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte placed the city under ECQ  after 49 cases of the new coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) were recorded in the city on April 1.

Holcim’s manufacturing facilities are located in La Union, Bulacan, Misamis Oriental and Davao.

“Cost control measures are currently being implemented to mitigate the impact of these developments to our business,” it said.

Holcim however said that its  Lugait plant in Misamis Oriential will continue operation “and serve the requirements of our business partners and customers in Northern Mindanao and the Visayas.
